Awards and Prizes for students and young researchers
The following Awards and Prizes are established at IVC-22 for postgraduate students (graduate school students) and young researchers. The applicants should be the presenting authors of papers at IVC-22, and their student ID and age will be checked by ID cards onsite. The reviewers for selection are members of the organizing/program committees and keynote/invited speakers.
Students (irrespective their age) can apply for No. 1 below, and young researchers (32 years old or younger as of September 1, 2022) can apply for No. 2 below. The application form should be submitted at the submission of abstract.
The awards No. 3 below are only for members of The Japan Society of Vacuum and Surface Science (JVSS) because the awards No. 3 are usual ones in the domestic JVSS annual meeting. The applicants to No. 3 can apply also to No. 1 or No. 2 if the respective required conditions are fulfilled. In such a case, the respective application forms should be submitted separately.

Application conditions
Postgraduate students (graduate school students) within seven years of obtaining the first degree (graduation of undergraduate school) in any universities and institutes, which will be checked by the student ID onsite, can apply. An application form (link below) with a sign of the supervisor is required to submit at the abstract submission. The award and prizes shown above have no difference in selection and awarding; the sponsor companies are different.
Selection Procedure
Oral or poster presentations are reviewed by the referees in the audience.
Around 15 winners in total will be selected.
Awarding
The prize winners will be awarded at the Closing Ceremony, with the certificate and cash (JPY 50,000, about 450 USD) for each.

No. 2 : Young Researcher Prizes under names of sponsors*
Researchers of 32 years old or younger as of September 1, 2022. An application form is required to submit at the abstract submission.

No. 3 : Excellent Presentation Awards from JVSS（日本表面真空学会 講演奨励賞）
These awards are only for young members of JVSS, The Japan Society of Vacuum and Surface Science (日本表面真空学会, JVSS) because these are ones for the domestic annual meeting of JVSS.

There are three categories, each of which is for emerging researchers (新進研究者部門), for young researchers (若手研究者部門) and for students (学生部門).

IUVSTA Ebara Award selected by the IUVSTA committee
The second IUVSTA EBARA Award will be awarded to Dr. Deep Jariwala School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at University of Pennsylvania, USA.
